Valor Mortis plays a spot of a sneaky trick. For a portion it keeps it straight. 'Yes', it seems to say; 'I'm decidedly a Soulslike. Look astatine my bonfire equivalents, my healing flasks, my corpse runs, adjacent my aboriginal impossi-boss feints. Look astatine my cautious action, my fog gates, the oppressive aerial of melancholy that lingers implicit these fields of mud and blood'. But jumpcut to a fewer hours later, and determination you are: first-person wall-running, grapple-swinging, one-two parry slashing, quick-step-fire-ball-dismembering, slow-mo bullettime high-jump shotgun-blast-to-the-face-ing. This, it's just to say, is not your accustomed Soulslike.
